EVOLV Cap Pad for Climbers

The Evolv's LZ (landing zone) is designed with cost-conscious climbers in mind, offering a "No Frills" pad with maximum performance. Modeled on their standard setting drop pad, the Cap features a super beefy 5-inch thick 3-layer foam construction, providing a confidence-inspiring 48-inch by 36-inch landing area.

The Cap's design eschews a carpet square for foot tidiness, opting instead for a minimalist carry system that conveys a sense of purpose. The focus is on ensuring that you and the ground never get too close, with the pad's features prioritizing safety and performance.

Now fully loaded with adjustable and contoured backpack straps, the Cap also boasts a larger and more cushioned waistband to keep the pad/gear weight on the hips. A sternum strap helps to keep the shoulder straps in place, while load lifters redistribute the weight off the shoulders and onto the hips.

For easy operation, the Cap features new quick-release industrial-strength metal cam-style buckles all around, allowing for easy open and close. Additionally, the pad is equipped with easy access handles, enabling quick and efficient movement from boulder to boulder without the need to close the pad.

The foam structure of the Cap consists of a 25-millimeter (1-inch) top layer of closed-cell foam that runs the entire length of the pad. This is bonded to an 80-millimeter (3.1-inch) layer of open-cell foam, which is then attached to a 25-millimeter (1-inch) bottom layer of closed-cell foam for extra durability and pressure containment.

The suspension system of the Cap includes 85-millimeter (3.3-inch) wide padded and contoured shoulder straps, a 35-millimeter (1.75-inch) wide webbing waist belt, as well as load-lifting straps and sternum straps. The closure system utilizes G-hooks with 25-millimeter (1-inch) nylon webbing.

When fully open, the Cap measures 48 inches by 36 inches by 5 inches (122 centimeters by 91 centimeters by 12.7 centimeters). In the closed position, it measures 24 inches by 36 inches by 11 inches (61 centimeters by 91 centimeters by 28 centimeters). The pad is constructed from 900-denier polyester and water-repellent coated fabric, with a total weight of 12 pounds.
